Liner For Truck Fifth Wheel

March 14th, 2014 Comments off
Millions of pounds of grease are washed off 5th wheels in this country every year. This not only has a huge impact on the environment causing water pollution but is also extremely costly to haulage and logistic businesses.
During application a significant amount of grease is either dropped in the workshop or falls off onto the tractor unit making the tractor unit dirty, unsightly and uncomfortable to work in.
Greasy residue on surfaces and on the ground can prove hazardous during hitching and can cause individuals to slip on the ground and on the back of tractor units. This has considerable implications from a health and safety view point in and in particular from an employer’s liability perspective.
On average 30% of 5th wheel grease is wasted.
An automatic lubricating Fifth Wheel Liner removes the need to regularly lubricate the plate, a dirty job for any operative this liner will save on maintenance time, reduce expenditure on oils / greases,  improve on tractor trailer coupling, handling and could also reduce tyre wear and fuel consumption.
Made of a high-density plastic material, this provides significant levels of resistance and durability.

How to Use A Decelerometer For Trailer Brake Tests

Trailer maintenance requires to be as professional as truck maintenance, Carrying out a inspection brake test on trailer doe not mean an expensive Roller Brake Test.

Research has concluded that using a product like BrakeCheck to test trailers brakes is beneficial but will not indicate a below par efficiency on a particular wheel or brake, although using an Infra Red Thermometer as well will increase your awareness of a faulty brake or a low efficiency brake.

VOSA’s Mark Pattison has stated “A decelerometer is not the ideal method to test the braking of a vehicle and trailer combination. However it is of some use. You are correct that the checking of individual wheels would not show up in a test result. The way to use a decelerometer is to first test the drawing vehicle on its own. Then connect the trailer and the deceleration rate should be similar i.e. the trailer is doing its fair share of work. This is not an exact science but would be enough to give you confidence the trailer brakes were working.”

This system is ideal for commercial operations to improve maintenance records for trailers and increase awareness of a trailers brake performance between the annual roller brake tests. Offering a print out of the combination tractor and trailer performance with brake temperatures will improve quality procedures and health & safety paper work. It is often said in today’s age paper work to protect directors and managers from the corporate manslaughter or health and safety law is essential.
aide automotive have designed an inspection sheet for trailers using the BrakeCheck and thermometer, if you require a copy email info@aideautomotive.com with subject heading Trailer Inspection Sheet.

aide automotive also recommend to test the pressure on brake chambers, this will increase your past rate for trailer parking brakes.

Trailer Red Line Lock To Secure A Trailer While Parked Or Yard Stored

Trailer Susie Lock is an excellent tool to manage a trailer fleet within a depot or off site.

If you need to manage secure trailers then a Trailer Red Line Lock is an ideal cost effective tool, when is a trailer is off the road, using a number plate style VOR sign is less than ideal, this has no protection of the sign being thrown away and the trailer used.

A recent theft of a trailer in Scotland with £300,000 of wine might have been prevented with a simple low cost Susie Lock.

Thieves have made off after stealing a trailer from a haulage yard.

The vehicle was parked in the R T Keedwell Haulage Yard on Uddingston’s Bellshill Road when the theft took place.

Between midday on Saturday 17.08.13 and 8.20am on Sunday, the suspects entered the yard and hooked their own cab to a trailer containing pallets of wine. They subsequently drove the trailer out of the yard.

Police Scotland said the retail value of the alcohol was approximately £300,000.

Detective Sergeant John Cameron of Hamilton police office appealed for witnesses to come forward.

He said: “I would urge anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious on Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning either at or near the haulage yard to come forward as they may have information that is vital to this enquiry.”

Commenting Matt Burke said “The Trailer Lock will stop easy movement of a trailer parked on or off site, locking the red line means a trailer brake system can not be activated and the trailer will move with the brake on. An excellent low cost product could save trailer theft for any transport or haulage company.”

July 17th, 2013 Comments off

aide automotive have recently supplied Cartwright Bros a UK leading commercial trailer supplier with four Pallet Truck Locks.

The Pallet Truck Locks are specified in all new trailers build by a prominent leading European transport company.

Pallet Truck Lock  – Lee Lock addresses a fairly widespread health and safety problem in a simple but ingenious way. As fleet managers are becoming increasingly concerned with the potential long-term costs of health and safety risks, the modest one-off price for the Lee Lock is an attractive solution.

Lee Lock is designed to lock the pallet truck in place at all times, hence reducing any chance of the truck slamming into other pallets, slashing the curtain side and as the pallet truck slots into the lock there’s no chance of any back injury  from lifting.

Trailer Indicator & Light 12 volt Tester

January 30th, 2013 Comments off

When testing caravans fitted with a 13 pin plug and leisure battery all you do is plug the caravan into the TrailerCheck.

Power is taken from the leisure battery and shown by the reversing lights illuminating. Then simply take the handset control and walk around the van checking the other rear lights and side markers as you go. If there are no faults unplug the TrailerCheck ? job done.   For trailers or caravans with 7 pin systems, plug in the 13 to 7 pin adaptor and connect the power lead to a suitable 12 volt battery. Then plug the trailer into the TrailerCheck and proceed with the test above.

Where 12V TrailerCheck really scores is when there is a fault.   The TrailerCheck will hold power on the faulty circuit leaving both your hands free while you trace the  problem. Then if you need to work on the circuit you use the handset to switch the power to another light or off altogether. You can then make the repair without risking a short circuit, switch the power to re-do the test without needing to move from the place where you are working.   As there is no need to keep walking back and forth to tow a vehicle, the test and repair times are really very quick even when you have more than one faulty light.

Matthew Burke Stated “Having a 24 volt trailer light tester in the product range we received regualr calls for a 12 volt tester. Adding this excellent simple tester to the product range will offer a service to commercial trailer repairers and light car & van trailer repairers.”
