Hand Held Brake Tester

BrakeCheck approval by National Express

National Express is ordering the BrakeCheck system following a successful demonstration at its Walsall depot. Nick Sorrill, head of quality assurance, explains: “National Express takes every step to ensure our duty of care policy and high safety standards are constantly adhered to. To this end, there is no exception or compromise where our bus and coach Brake Testing programme is concerned.

“For those brake tests carried out where there is no rolling road available or on the rare occasion they break down, we must have confidence that we have a viable alternative for providing an accurate recording of the service, secondary and hand brake. After some research into what products were available to achieve this we found BrakeCheck to be the one.

“BrakeCheck proved to be 100 per cent accurate when compared to a previous test on our roller brake tester. This and the fact that BrakeCheck is VOSA-approved sealed the deal for us. Consequently, we are now rolling them out to our other depots across the bus and coach businesses.”

aide automotive have introduced the Mechanical Tapley Decelerometer to the product range.

Having marketed and sold thousands of electronic decelerometers since 2002 the Tapley Meter is now available.

A Tapley Brake  Meter has been around for years and used as a back up to a MOT roller brake tester.

A Tapley Brake Meter is  in the main used to test 4×4 vehicles or used if a Roller Brake Tester is faulty within an MOT Test station, this decelerometer can also be used to test all types of vehicles, from heavy trucks and buses to vans. A Tapley Brake Testing Meter needs no electrical connections and it’s so portable that you can take the Tapley Meter to the vehicle instead of the other way around.

Matthew Burke said “We see the Tapley name as the name in brake testing equipment and often receive esquiries to purchase. Although we like to promote modern electronic brake meters this product will never die and deserves a place in our product range.”

Mis Fuelling Not Covered By Insurance

June 13th, 2013 Comments off

Nearly a quarter of motor breakdown policies do not cover misfuelling, according to new research by financial research company Defaqto.

The analysis of 288 policies showed that 23 per cent exclude cover if you fill your car up with the wrong fuel.

According to the AA, more than 100,000 motorists put the wrong fuel in their car every year.

Meanwhile, it was found that 14 per cent of motor breakdown policies do not provide cover if you run out of fuel.

Mike Powell, Insight Analyst for General Insurance at Defaqto, said: “Drivers putting the wrong fuel into a vehicle not only face a huge repair bill but may also find that their breakdown policy doesn’t provide cover for their vehicle to be towed to a garage.

“Even those motor breakdown policies that do cover such an eventuality will tend to find that the extent of the coverage is limited to towing the car to a garage or to their destination.”

Petrol In Diesel

Following a successful retro fit to in use Ginster delivery vans, Ginsters Pasties have now made the Solo Diesel Mis Fuelling device a standard fit to all new vans.

Mis-fuelling takes place when you put petrol in a diesel vehicle. The number of diesel cars on the road has increased, and therefore so have the problems and associated costs of misfueling. Putting petrol in your diesel car is easily done as the nozzle on a diesel pump has a larger diameter than an Unleaded fuel nozzle, so the Unleaded fits into the filler neck of the Diesel vehicle without any problems.

Putting Petrol in a diesel car has become more popular over the last few years and is easily done. The nozzle of a petrol pump is smaller than a Diesel nozzle, and therefore fits into the fuel tank without resistance. All you need is for something to catch your attention and you have an expensive repair bill on your hands (and sometimes an insurance claim!)

The Solo Diesel was installed on production, the new Ginsters vans were supplied by Solomon Commercials with a Mercedes Sprinter chassis.

Solo Diesel will fit a high percentage of vans and cars on UK roads, cost effective and easy to fit, take the worry out of wrong fuelling a diesel vehicle.
