Battery Testing Commercial Vehicles

May 27th, 2010 Comments off

Battery testing commercial vehicles should be part of the routine of  a vehicle maintenance programme. Using a Battery Charger to demonstrate efficiency of a battery can give an indication of when the battery is due to expire. Replacing tyres and brakes are often part of a maintenance programme but batteries often aren’t.   Battery testers allows an organisation to plan and prepare for the replacement of vehicle’s batteries.Midtronics Battery Testers can be used on any type of vehicle, from cars, motorcycles to light or heavy commercials and can provide a print out for your records

A Midtronics Battery Tester is the most modern, cost effective and easy to use tester. The unique technology makes testing of discharged batteries possible.

Adblue Contamination

May 26th, 2010 Comments off

AdBlue is  used to reduce emissions  from the exhaust of diesel motor vehicles. It’s a new concept in many vehicles.

These vehicles are a concern as they are highly susceptible to contamination. One small amount of the wrong fuel in the vehicle  can  cause irreversible damage.  So misfuelling isn’t an option and investment in a device to prevent this is a must!

Even a small amount of splash-back from the petrol gun in the tank is enough to permanently damage the AdBlue.

Fuel Theft For Norfolk Haulier

May 20th, 2010 Comments off

Fuel theft is an issue for many businesses as one business recently found out. Thieves siphoned 2,000 litres of fuel from a number of Freight Force Distribution trucks  parked on their own premises  on a weekend in April this year.

This is the first time we have been attacked in our own yard. So obviously we have the cost of the stolen fuel hitting us, and then there is the fact the lorries were parked up while we had to replace the diesel, meaning we lost work time.  Nick Jolley, Operations Director

Jolley says the company is now aiming to invest  in extra security to prevent similar incidents occuring. One way of preventing such a crime is to invest in a anti-fuel theft device such as TP Anti-Syph, the device that prevents thieves from siphoning fuel from a vehicle.

Pallet Truck Lock the Lee Lock

May 19th, 2010 Comments off
Many trucks need to carry a pallet truck to handle goods on customers’ premises, however there’s the concern that the pallet truck may move around in transit and damage the load or the vehicle’s curtains. The Lee Lock  locks the pallet truck in place so it doesn’t roll about in transit.
One recent customer is Bevan Motor Bodies who have purchased 62 Lee Locks as Noerberts specify this product on new rigids and trailers
Lee Lock tackles a widespread problem simply and cuts the cost of damage for modest price.

Diesel In AdBlue

May 13th, 2010 Comments off

AdBlue is the registered trademark for AUS32 (Aqueous Urea Solution 32.5%) used to reduce emissions  from the exhaust of diesel motor vehicles. It’s a new concept in many vehicles.

Adblue vehicles are a concern in cases of misfuelling as they are highly susceptible to contamination. As little as 10ml of Oil present in a 70 litre fill can  cause irreversible damage.  There’s a misunderstanding that you cannot insert a diesel pump  in an AdBlue tank filler neck as they’re different sizes. However you merely have to insert the nozzle into the hole and the splash-back from the gun still goes into the tank and it’s enough to permanently damage the AdBlue.

Tyre Pressure Monitoring to become compulsory

May 6th, 2010 Comments off
The European Commission is implementing a plan to make  TPMS a must on new vehicle types from 2012 and all new cars from 2014.  A  great move for organisations who take road safety seriuously. Tyre Pressure Monitoring  is an essential part of a vehicle’s maintenance programme. Checking tyre pressure monitors on a regular basis can avoid serious accidents from tyre blow outs, improve vehicle efficency in terms of reduced fuel consumption.
Check out this Tyre Pressure Monitor to start taking tyre pressure monitoring seriosuly now!

EBS ABS Brake Tester

May 6th, 2010 Comments off

Ford & Slater the well known midlands DAF dealer, recently purchased 13 ISOCheck Test Leads for use in all depots.

ISOCheck is the ideal first step to check the electrical information that runs between a tractor unit and trailer. Whether the trailer is EBS or ABS the ISOCheck will check all voltages and earths on the ISO 7638 socket, if any pins are the ISO socket are incorrect the ISOCheck will light up RED, if all pins are correct the ISOCheck will light up GREEN.

ISOCheck is the ideal tool to save time and confusion by directing the user to the tractor unit or trailer.

The ISOCheck also checks the trailer and existing suzie, once the tractor unit is tested, turn the ISOCheck around so the indicator plugs into the trailer, again RED equals fault but with the trailer! Two greens and a ABS warning light on in the cab would suggest the existing suzie lead is at fault.

The ISOCheck is ideal for Ford & Slater as they can confirm tractor units are producing the correct information when under service or inspection, a quick and simple test rather than the confusion of using multimeters!

ABS Diagnostics Tool For WH Malcolm

April 30th, 2010 Comments off

WH Malcom Group a leading provider of logistics and construction services, employing assets of over 1,600 people, 450 trucks, 1,000 trailers has chosen the EBS/ABS Sensor Tester for many of its workshops.

The EBS/ABS Sensor Master is an easy to use device which will confirm each  EBS/ABS sensor is operational and effective. By connecting to the sensor socket on each wheel, individual sensor faults can easily be identified. The Master also tests the exciter ring and the distance between the ring and sensor.

Many workshops use a multimeter to tests sensors but with this only a third of the problem is tested, the Sensor Tester will also test the gap and indicate if the Exciter Ring is damaged or mis aligned, a multimeter cannot do that!

aide automotive offer great products and go the EBS/ABS Sensor Tester to read more and download the product PDF.

Mis Fuelling an AdBlue Truck Tank

April 26th, 2010 Comments off

Truck Operators are seeing a new problem since the arrival of AdBlue.

Mis Fuelling the AdBlue tank with Diesel is a growing problem and major concern as the repair costs are resulting in thousands.

Some say you can’t get the diesel pump spout into the AdBlue tank filler neck–they’re different sizes. You don’t have to you only need to stick the nozzle into the hole pull the trigger and the splash-back from the gun as the cut-out works still goes into the tank and it’s enough to ruin the AdBlue.

AdBlue is highly susceptible to contamination and as little as 10ml of Oil present in a 70 litre fill can corrupt the system causing irreversible damage.

aide automotive will soon introduce an AdBlue Mis fuelling Device to stop Diesel contamination.

Tyre pressure monitoring important with part worn tyres on the increase

April 19th, 2010 Comments off

Tyre Pressure monitoring is an important part of a vehicles maintenance programme especially in light of a recent report. The number of tyre-related deaths and accidents in the UK is likely to increase after new research has revealed that more than one in ten drivers is more likely to buy part worn tyres compared with 12 months ago, probably as a result of the state of the economy

TyreSafe, the UK’s leading tyre safety group have issued the findings and a partner organisation to the Driving for Better business campaign, which is managed by RoadSafe. It has warned that not only could part worn tyres be a false economy, but they could pose a significant safety hazard to drivers and other road users. If drivers purchase second hand tyres they should at the very least check the tread and the tyre pressure of them on a regular basis. By ensuring they have the correct tyre pressure this should prolong the life of the tyre and prevent serious accidents.

Tyre Pressure monitoring is made easy by the tyre pressure device PressurePro, the simple and effective way of tyre pressure monitoring which removes the guesswork of determining the correct tyre pressure of your vehicles
