BrakeCheck is a portable, DVSA-approved Brake Tester for all MOT class vehicles.
BrakeCheck determines braking efficiency of both the Service Brake (Foot Brake) and Hand Brake by measuring the rate of deceleration from a speed of around 20 mph (Service Brake) 10 mph (Foot Brake) until the vehicle comes to rest.
With no connection to the vehicle and designed to be self-compensating, the brake tester will indicate on the LED screen when it is positioned level enough to perform a brake test, with a generous tolerance to ensure that this is easy to achieve.
The BrakeCheck decelerometer indicates whether the vehicle pulls to the left or right during braking, and reports the overall brake efficiency of the service and hand brake. Brake test results and be compared to MOT guidelines for roadworthy vehicles.
Test results can be viewed on the display panel or downloaded to a PC for saving or printing. A printed report can also be produced at the time of testing using the portable infra-red printer.
Following the service of a Motor home or vehicle, caravan service engineers could add a hard copy brake performance test, offering confidence and professionalism to the service.

Commercial Vehicle Equipment Supplier aide automotive Has Launched An Updated Version Of The ISOCheck

ISOCheck tests a trucks’ ISO sockets in order to help identify ABS or EBS faults.

 

The latest iteration of the system – ISOCheck EBS – has been designed to test electronic braking systems incorporating a CAN line test.

“Trucks that were first used on or after 1 May 2002 must be fitted with A ISO 7638 connection,”

“If a truck is fitted with an Electronic Brake System, and is also towing a trailer that is fitted with EBS, then a 7-core cable must be used.

Like the ISOCheck ABS tester, ISOCheck EBS tests the ISO Socket 7638 pins 1 to 5, but also tests pins 6 and 7, the EBS CAN lines.

Alongside the standard ABS & EBS ISOChecks we can also offer a diagnostic EBS ISOCheck.

ISOCheck EBSPlus test pins 1 to 7, and identifies the exact pin at fault.

Once the initial power test is complete with a RED fault light, the ISOCheck will then go into diagnostic mode and flash a count sequence in relation to the faulty pin,

The ISOCheck product range has benefited from a complete redesign, incorporating the latest electronics technology which enables future proofing truck and trailer brake systems.

ISOCheck can be used to test all Wabco, Knorr-Bremse and Haldex systems, from the early generations to the latest.

Truck ISO Tester Starts To Sell!

ISOCheck Re Launch & New User Guide

The ISO tester is an advanced circuit tester, it tests a trucks ISO 7638 socket, trailer susie and ABS/EBS functions.
With the launch now well under way, we can detail here the latest user guide.
When using the ISOCheck on a tractor and trailer, please make sure all health & Safety procedures are in place.
The ISOCheck is a test product & a diagnostic tool, the test lead will quickly identify where the fault is .i.e. on a tractor unit, a trailer or the existing Susie lead.
Testing a Tractor Unit
Firstly make sure the ignition is off in the tractor unit, remove the existing Susie lead that is fitted into the ISO socket.
Apply the ISOCheck to the ISO7638 socket on the tractor unit, fit the end with the clear Perspex modification, for future reference this is called “the ISOIndicator”.
Turn on the ignition, with all voltages and earths correct and also the ABS warning light “off” the ISOIndicator will light up GREEN.
If any of the voltages, earths or the warning light circuit is faulty, then the ISOIndicator will light up RED (or warning light on), this indicates a fault with the tractor unit, with the EBSPlus version the lead will now go into diagnostic mode and flash a count sequence in relation to the pin that is at fault. i.e. 5 flashes indicates PIN 5 “the warning light control wire”.
If the ISOCheck Truck Test resulted in Green and to confirm the trailer has a fault, not follow the trailer test procedure.
Testing the Trailer
Turn the truck ignition off.
Plug the ISOCheck Indicator into the trailer, turn on the ignition. The trailer warning light should activate on the truck dash board and the ISOCheck will light up RED.
The warning light should go out after 2 seconds and the ISOCheck will go GREEN, this means the trailers braking system is working at standstill.
If the warning light stays on, then drive the tractor and trailer above 10KPH, the warning light should go out and the ISOCheck will go GREEN. This proves the braking system is working correctly.
If all is working correctly and there is still an ABS fault light, this would mean the existing Susie lead is probably faulty. If the tester stays RED after a drive, stop the unit and trailer and remove the ISOCheck from the trailer. If the tester stays RED there is a power supply fault from the tractor unit or warning light fault, if the ISOCheck Indicator goes GREEN then there is a fault in the trailer system.

Following The Bath Tipper Incident Inquiry HGV Brake Testing Essential

Following the Bath Tipper Incident inquiry one would make a educated judgement to make sure all brakes and testing of brakes on HGV or Commercial vehicles are examined, maintained and tested with the appropriate recorded paper work.
The inquiry showed the Bath tipper truck to have been poorly maintained which resulted when tested to have a very poor brake efficiency.
aide automotive recommend the use of roller brake testers and decelerometers within a 12 month maintenance and testing policy.
Regular testing on RBT’s and then an in-between decelerometer test like BrakeCheck will offer printed brake reports for service or inspection sheets to complete a maintenance policy for any heavy vehicle operator.
