Truck Fresnel Lens Blind Spot Mirror – Purchase Online
Purchase The Truck Fresnel Lens Via PayPal

A Truck Fresnel Lens press-fits inside the truck’s passenger side window, like a mirror, a Fresnel Lens affords the driver a normal, (through the window) view of what’s close to his cab, not a reversed or inverted mirror image. That means the driver will assimilate any danger much faster and react far more quickly.

Due to a blind spot, drivers of trucks cannot see smaller vehicles or other vulnerable road users which are immediately next to the passenger side door of their HGV. These unseen road users can be hit if the truck changes lane in their direction.

London has become the first city in Britain to fine the drivers of HGVs not fitted with equipment to protect cyclists.

Commercial Vehicle Caliper Tester

September 24th, 2019 Comments off

HGV Brake Caliper Tester

The tester is used to check the potentiometers (wear indicators) in brake calipers and for the determination of the wear of the brake disc and brake pads.

The practice of checking a potentiometer for faults and replacement could save a commercial vehicle operator thousands instead of complete caliper replacements!!

The reported practise of replacing a complete calipers rather than testing and replacing a potentiometer is in the past if you own an aide automotive Potentiometer Tester.

The procedure for checking the potentiometer can be carried out with the caliper installed on the vehicle or with the caliper removed, simply connect the supplied correct cable to the brake potentiometer, power the tester and choose which type you are testing, MAN / Mercedes 3 Wire Gold DAF / Mercedes 2 Wire Scania / Iveco /
Mercedes 3 Wire Silver

The display will show the voltage, pad wear percentage & bar graph.

To set a new potentiometer simply wind the potentiometer until the display show 0 %, done!!

To test a potentiometer, wind the potentiometer until about 2.75 volts, this will show low pads warning and then to 100% for failure warning. SIMPLE!!

So start testing & replacing potentiometers to save money today!!

HGV Diesel Theft Alarm

H Mills Transport Increases Fleet & Fits TankGuard As Standard

TankGuard is the latest product to protect truck diesel theft from HGV’s.

The TankGuard fuel theft alarm will activate once the fuel cap is removed or a potential thief tampers with the truck tank.
H Mills Transport of Loughborough installed 3 TankGuard systems at the start of 2017 and with the increase of the fleet, a 17 plate Renault had a TankGuard fitted as standard.
TankGuard has a sophisticated sensor fitted externally in a discreet location on the outside of the fuel tank. If thieves attempt to remove the locked cap, or jemmy out the sender unit or in any way attack the tank, then the Tank Guard alarm will be activated. This will result in a 114 decibel alarm giving a deafening warning to drive the thieves away.
Mark Mills Owner of H Mills Transport said “Running a haulage company one of our most expensive outlays is fuel. With this I have taken the best approach to consolidate this commodity. Installing fuel tank alarms from aide automotive has further protected my trucks from the unwanted attention of thieves. Since installing 3 tank alarms at the start of the year I have further fitted a new truck with the TankGuard alarm. Having confidence my trucks are protected with a quality product gives me piece of mind.”
Fuel theft occurs in many ways, aide automotive market anti siphon devices for the cost-effective approach to fuel protection and with the Fuel Tank Alarm for the tank attacks.
Recent reports of diesel theft by removing the Sender Unit has prompted aide automotive to design another solution. Sender Safe is a robust and easy to fit protective shield for a Truck Fuel Tank Sender unit.
TankGuard can be installed by any competent vehicle workshop or by our installation team.

Truck, Bus & Coach Brake Testing

Following The Bath Tipper Incident Inquiry HGV Brake Testing Essential

Following the Bath Tipper Incident inquiry one would make a educated judgement to make sure all brakes and testing of brakes on HGV or Commercial vehicles are examined, maintained and tested with the appropriate recorded paper work.
The inquiry showed the Bath tipper truck to have been poorly maintained which resulted when tested to have a very poor brake efficiency.
aide automotive recommend the use of roller brake testers and decelerometers within a 12 month maintenance and testing policy.
Regular testing on RBT’s and then an in-between decelerometer test like BrakeCheck will offer printed brake reports for service or inspection sheets to complete a maintenance policy for any heavy vehicle operator.
You can dear more of he DVSA’s Heavy vehicle brake test: best practice online.
In the near future aide automotive will be offering On Site Roller Brake Testing, we will visit, test and report on truck, Bus, Coach or Trailer brakes using a calibrated RBT with print out facility.

Truck Fifth Wheel Lubrication Liner

Truck Fifth Wheel Covers

On average 30% of 5th wheel grease is wasted

Millions of pounds of grease are washed off 5th wheels in this country every year. This not only has a huge impact on the environment causing water pollution but is also extremely costly to haulage and logistic businesses.

During application a significant amount of grease is either dropped in the workshop or falls off onto the tractor unit making the tractor unit dirty, unsightly and uncomfortable to work in.

Greasy residue on surfaces and on the ground can prove hazardous during hitching and can cause individuals to slip on the ground and on the back of tractor units. This has considerable implications from a health and safety view point in and in particular from an employer’s liability perspective.

On average 30% of 5th wheel grease is wasted.

Truck Fifth Wheel Lubrication Liner have Heath & Safety benefits, with less oil and grease on the fifth wheel the likelihood of oil dripping onto a hot exhaust is virtually impossible, hence protecting against truck fire.

Many companies have fitted a Truck Lube Liner recently, David Craig Haulage in Berwick Upon Tweed completed a fleet fit of the Truck Fifth Wheel Lube Covers.

Trucks Need Mirrors For London

Lorries Face Ban Over New Cycle Safety Measures

London has become the first city in Britain to fine the drivers of HGVs not fitted with equipment like mirrors to protect cyclists.

From the 1st of September all lorries over 3.5 tons in the capital must now be fitted with guards at the side to help prevent cyclists being dragged under wheels in the event of an accident.

They must also have a special type of mirror that helps the driver see those riding bicycles or on foot.

Any that do not have the equipment fitted with the safety equipment may be issued with a £50 fixed penalty notice and operators could face a maximum fine of £1,000 at a Magistrates’ court.

The new rules for lorries will operate 24 hours a day and cover every road in the capital except motorways.

Most HGVs are already required to fit side guards, but lorries involved in the construction industry have been exempt from that requirement. Similarly, while new lorries must have extended view mirrors fitted, older HGVs have been exempt.

A Hi Vu Commercial Vehicle Fresnel lens press-fits inside the truck’s passenger side window, like a mirror, Hi Vu affords the driver a normal, (through the window) view of what’s close to his cab, not a reversed or inverted mirror image.

For the low price of £9.99 + vat, a Truck Or Bus Fresnel Mirror Lens is an ideal addition to a HGV to the required guards and mirrors.

Blind Spot Mirror For Trucks Is a Fresnel Lens

Truck HGV Blind Spot Lens

A Hi Vu Fresnel lens press-fits inside the truck’s passenger side window and is held firmly in place by its own ‘peel-back’ self-adhesive.

The Fresnel lens provides an extra downwards view for the HGV driver so that at a glance he can see any vulnerable road user that might be hidden in the mirror blind spot, alongside his passenger door.

Unlike a mirror, Hi Vu affords the driver a normal, (through the window) view of what’s close to his cab, not a reversed or inverted mirror image.

DVSA says, “Even the latest HGVs with a full complement of six mirrors, in compliance with the latest EU directive, still have blind spots to the passenger side which are large enough to hide a family saloon car. The solution is to fit a special Fresnel lens.”
VOSA has conducted trials which have proven that by fitting Fresnel lenses to vehicles, both the frequency and the severity of “sideswipe” accidents is reduced.
